Library Strategy

The Library Strategy draws on best practice and provides an action plan for the next 10 years to improve and deliver libraries that feel welcoming, contemporary and adapt to meet the needs of our changing community.

It is directly aligned to our Community Strategic Plan and a key strategy within Council's Integrated Planning and Reporting framework.

Libraries are for everyone to discover, relax, research, connect and learn. The Strategy has been developed to ensure that Council’s libraries will provide safe, welcoming and inclusive spaces embracing learning and connectivity.

Safer Communities Strategy

The Safer Communities Strategy outlines the key outcomes that will contribute to enhancing the safety, security and wellbeing of those who visit, live and work in the Sutherland Shire. It is directly aligned to our Community Strategic Plan and a key strategy within Council's Integrated Planning and Reporting framework.
 
We aim to provide welcoming, safe and accessible places and spaces that encourage active lifestyles, and we will work in conjunction with the actions set out in this plan over the next ten years.
 
The safety, security and wellbeing of our community is at the heart of Sutherland Shire Council’s focus, and we are committed to playing a key role in reducing crime and bolstering both perceived and actual safety.

Property Strategy

The Property Strategy applies to all Council property assets (land and buildings), that are either Council owned or managed (including Crown land), whether in full or part, or occupied by Council as lessee, rights of way, leases, tenancies, licences, easements and ground leases on the land.
 
Application of the Property Strategy will enable Council to optimise the value and benefits of its property assets to assist with the realisation of Council’s service delivery objectives identified in the Community Strategic Plan.

Cultural Strategy

The Cultural Strategy 2022-32 sets out Council's commitment to supporting and evolving our culturally rich and vibrant community. It is directly aligned to our Community Strategic Plan and a key strategy within Council's Integrated Planning and Reporting framework.
 
The Strategy outlines three key areas of focus central to meeting our community's needs and aspirations, now and into the future. It aims to ensure access to arts and culture by everyone.

Open Space Strategy

The Open Space Strategy is a long term plan, which sets out key outcomes aimed at enhancing active lifestyles in the unique and valued open spaces of the Sutherland Shire. As a key strategy within Council’s Integrated Planning and Reporting framework, the Open Space Strategy is directly aligned to our Community Strategic Plan.
 
The Strategy outlines four key areas of focus centred on planning for open spaces to support our community’s needs and lifestyles now and into the future.

Economic Informing Strategy

The Economic Strategy outlines the key economic outcomes which will contribute to enhancing the vibrancy, liveability, economic diversity and sustainability of the Sutherland Shire.

The Strategy outlines four key outcomes centred on building a prosperous community with a fulfilling work life balance. This will be achieved through supporting a diverse, resilient and self-sustaining business community with a focus on tourism, supported by a skilled workforce contributing to growing the local economy.

Integrated Transport Strategy

The Integrated Transport Strategy outlines the key outcomes that will contribute to the convenient and efficient movement of people and goods throughout Sutherland Shire. This Strategy is centred on planning for a safe and sustainable transport system that will allow the community to conveniently access services, employment, business and recreational pursuits via a choice of transport options.

Environment and Sustainability Strategy

Addresses the environmental aspects of the Community Strategic Plan.

This strategy draws together council's activities from across the organisation that contribute to sustainability. The Shire must be managed sustainably and the purpose of this document is to bring together the environment and sustainability directions that will help achieve this.

Disability Inclusion Action Plan

Sutherland Shire Council’s Disability Inclusion Action Plan 2017-2021 was created in consultation with community disability services in accordance with the NSW Disability Inclusion Act 2014. Its aim is to improve the lives of people with disability and moves us closer to a fully inclusive society for all.

Sutherland Shire Council is committed to protecting the rights of people with disability and in promoting the value of diversity and inclusion across the community.

Bate Bay Coastal Management Program

The Bate Bay Coastal Management Program sets the long term strategy for the coordinated management of land within the coastal zone at Bate Bay.

Its purpose is to provide an adaptive, integrated and long-term approach to coastal management to address identified risks and ensure developing opportunities can be taken, assessed on their merit and be implemented if advantageous.
