Animal Shelter Volunteers

Volunteers help

  • Provide care to our dogs and cats
  • Walk and socialise dogs. 
  • Socialise with the cats.
  • Bathing and grooming of dogs and cats
  • Attend local fairs and events to promote the Animal Shelter and animals available for adoption.

 What's required

  • An ability to handle animals.
  • Past experience with animals is preferred but not essential.
  • Able to attend on a set day each week is preferred.
  • An ability to engage and interact with staff and other volunteers in a positive and constructive manner.
  • Strong commitment to council policies and procedures in relation to care and management of animals.
  • Ability to meet our WHS requirements (training is provided).

Induction and training

All new volunteers will have to be formally registered with council, complete an induction and be given appropriate training. 

Council appreciates all applications for volunteers, however, at times we may have to decline applications if the skills or availability do not match the required task.
