Latest Updates on COVID-19

Sutherland Shire Council welcomes the latest NSW Government announcement on the easing of lockdown measures, which paves the way for our community to enjoy greater access to a number of the services and facilities provided by Council.

Council is currently in consultation with health authorities and peak industry body, Local Government NSW, as we continue to seek further advice on how to coordinate the staged reopening of these services and facilities in strict adherence with expert health advice.

We thank all members of our community for their continued patience and understanding as we work towards ensuring that our services and facilities can be enjoyed in a COVID Safe manner once Public Health Orders allow.

The gradual easing of NSW Government restrictions has been made possible through the strong increase in vaccination rates across the state, and we thank our residents for playing their part as the Sutherland Shire continues to lead the way as one of the most vaccinated communities nationwide. Council encourages those members of the community who are not yet vaccinated to seek professional health care advice on how to access vaccination to ensure that all of us can enjoy even greater freedoms in the near future.

In the meantime, Council staff are continuing to deliver essential services during this period, including waste collection and the maintenance and upkeep of our public facilities such as parks, open spaces, public toilets, roads and drains to ensure the safety of our community.

You can reach us online or by calling our Customer Service Centre on (02) 9710 0333 as our Customer Service Centre on Eton St, Sutherland is currently closed.

Public Health Order Updates

The current Public Health Order restrictions to combat the COVID-19 Delta variant outbreak are in place across Greater Sydney, including the Blue Mountains and Wollongong. Full details available at NSW Public Health Orders.

Under the Public Health Orders you must stay within the Sutherland Shire local government area when you leave your home for permitted activities. If you live close to an adjoining local government area, and you need to enter that area for permissible reasons, you must stay within a 5km radius of your home. It is recommended to not enter those local government areas of concern unless the food or services or their equivalent are not available locally. You can see what is within your 5km radius using the mapping tool from NSW Government.

From 12.01am Monday 13 September outdoor gatherings in stay at home areas of up to five people will be allowed in a person’s LGA or within 5km of a persons residence if travelling to another LGA, for adults (16 years of age and over) who have received both doses of the COVID-19 vaccine and those with medical exemptions. The five people excludes children who are 12 years of age and under.

From 12.01am Monday 23 August 2021 mask wearing is mandatory when outside your home for Greater Sydney, except when exercising.

NSW Police are the enforcement agency for breaches of the current Public Health Order for COVID-19. You can report information regarding individuals or businesses you suspect are in breach of the current restrictions directly to NSW Police Crime Stoppers or by phoning 1800 333 000.

Council will continue to closely follow the advice and directives provided by the NSW Government and health experts and play our part to help stop the spread of the highly contagious COVID-19 Delta variant.

We thank our community for their patience as we navigate this challenging time together and encourage you to follow NSW Health to stay up to date with the latest restrictions and case locations.
