I have worked in the early education and care sector for many years, with a long history of working in both Early Education Centres and Family Day Care.

As an early childhood specialist, I am passionate about providing children with a warm, secure environment which offers a wide range of learning opportunities.

I am committed to establishing wonderful relationships with the families who use my service, liaising closely with them on their child's development and learning progress. Strong family partnerships is an essential part of my Family Day Care service. All families in my service also receive comprehensive journals including child's observations, programming, developmental checklists, photos and work samples of their masterpieces.

On a personal note, I am a mum to three beautiful older children.

Please follow my Family Day Care service on Facebook to view examples of the daily curriculum the children in my service experience.

About my service

On a daily basis the children enjoy many learning and play experiences, enabling them to foster their social/emotional, physical, cognitive. language/literacy and self-help skills.

Our program is play-based, with all learning outcomes guided by the industry’s national standard, The Early Years Learning Framework.

Each child's interests, strengths and abilities are recognised in the program, which is tailored according to the individual needs of each child.

 Our daily program encompasses:

  • Language and literacy
  • Arts and crafts
  • Music
  • Cultural experiences
  • Physical activity promoting gross and fine motor skills
  • Sensory experiences
  • Free creative play
  • Community excursions and engagement

The children in my service also enjoy larger shared learning environments, attending a range of excursions with other Family Day Care Educators and the children in their services.

Fiona's Family Day Care is registered with and regulated by Sutherland Shire Council’s Family Day Care Scheme, which has been operating for more than 40 years.

About my facilities

My Family Day Care service offers large and modern spaces both indoors and out.

Indoors, we enjoy a spacious environment with many play and learning resources for the children's fun and development. The room has plenty of natural light due to large windows which open directly onto the outdoors.

Located near the indoor Family Day Care room are modern bathroom facilities suitable for young children.

Outdoors, we enjoy a large shaded space, the feature of which is a large craft table. The children in my service are very keen on a wide range of craft activities and this is a well used and much loved space. Outdoors we also have a variety of equipment to extend the children's development such as bikes, scooters, balls and hoops. The children are also avid users of other resources including dolls and prams.

To personalise our outdoor space, the children and I enjoy hanging mobiles and lanterns in our beautiful wattle tree.

Philosophy - Fiona's Family Day Care

The children at Fiona's Family Day Care experience true nature-based play.

The children are unhurried, engage all their senses, gently mentored, organic, joyful and peaceful.

I focus on the children being creative and being connected to our natural environment. While outdoors in our learning classroom, I provide a nature-based play environment that promotes a love for the natural world.

We spend our days in our large outdoor backyard and our bright, welcoming play room where loose parts and open-ended resources are a big part of our play.

I believe in creating a learning environment where children are free to explore, create and build upon their natural strengths, interests and abilities.

I believe that all children have the right to feel safe, secure and supported, in control of their environment and develop a relationship with myself, their early childhood Educator, which is based on trust and respect. This creates a sense of being and belonging for each child and supports development of a positive self image and confidence. I provide environments and learning spaces that are free from bias and acknowledges each child’s cultural          background.

My main objectives are for all children to become independent, have respect for others, find their happiness and reinforce that learning is fun.

Are there any specific goals that you would like me to focus on with your child?

Testimonials

“My eldest daughter was with Fiona for two years. She started when she was only seven months old and under Fee’s love and care absolutely thrived into the confident little girl she is now. Fee goes above and beyond for her families, providing them with photos, Daily Reflections, individual summaries, and wonderfully creating personalised learning activities for each of the kiddies, depending on their interests and passions. It was also amazing to see her welcome a child's sister into her daycare who has additional needs. The amount of research she did was wonderful and she was so accomodating.
What Fee does for the gorgeous little people in her care is so wonderful and you can really tell she loves her job and genuinely loves and cares for the little people in her care."

“Fiona caters to each child’s specific educational needs, enjoyment and learning capacity. She identifies even the smallest interests and changes in the children in her care. Her experience level is clearly evident in how she runs her days with four children at different capacities and levels as well as her confidence in caring for and meeting their needs."
