Sutherland Shire Council COVID-19 Small Business Support

The COVID-19 Delta outbreak and the restrictions imposed by the State Government to slow the spread of the virus have had a significant impact on the Sutherland Shire business community and local residents. In order to assist our local business community to weather the impact of these restrictions, Sutherland Shire Council has introduced a number of support measures which are designed to ease the financial pressures facing business operators and to help individual businesses to innovate and adapt to meet the challenges posed by this pandemic.
Council is waiving all fees for Outdoor Dining licenses, Shopfront Display permits and A-Frame fees until 30 June 2022. Council is also providing temporary approval for businesses to expand trading on the public footpath by allowing additional tables and chairs to be utilised for outdoor dining. You will need to apply to Council and provide your Public Liability Insurance and you will need to ensure safe passageways are maintained on the footpath. Read more
Council is waiving monthly rental fees for the display of footpath A-Frame advertising signage until 30 June 2022. Further details on how to apply and restrictions that are still in place regarding shopfront advertising, please visit Council’s website. Read more
Council is providing rent relief to its Small and Medium Enterprise tenants that have been impacted by the COVID-19 Pandemic. This rent relief is in line with the National Cabinet’s Mandatory Code of Conduct for Commercial Leasing. To be eligible for rent relief, you need to supply supporting evidence of downturn in revenue in the form of Profit and Loss statements from 2019 and 2021 and proof of qualification for COVID-19 Business Grant application. Further eligibility criteria also apply, so please visit our website for more details. Read more
Council is encouraging impacted businesses to apply to have their Council rates and fees deferred. If you need help, please visit our website for information on how to apply for hardship relief. Read more
